Mobility Exercise Helps Functional Fitness for Breast Cancer Patients

You know I’m all about saving time with Mobility Exercise.

This is truly important for saving energy too.  Important for my patients with fatigue.

So this seemingly easy exercise packs some punch when done properly.

Just a little lean forward, lean back and voila:

You’re working on ankle mobility

You’re working calf pain when walking

You’re working on neural pathways

Now I have to get a little in depth on the neural pathways part.  Because:

if you choose NOT to work on proper positioning

if you choose to do exercise classes where you’re not concentrating on your form

if you choose to ignore the foundations of movement…

You’re results will not be what you’ve set as your goals.

You body works and adapts to what’s easiest.  So after surgery, after treatment, your body will find the easiest way to get things done.

Think about how you get out of bed right after surgery.  Or how you reach for something when your shoulder is tight and sore.

Well, neural pathways work within your body to make things faster, kind of like automating things.  The more you do something, the more automated your body becomes.  Think about reaching for your coffee cup, grabbing the handle of your fridge, or pushing the buttons on your phone.  It’s automated.  You don’t even think about it.

That’s neural pathways working their magic.

So when you’re not moving well.  When your body adapts because of injury, illness, surgery, it finds the easiest way to keep you functioning.  And it’s probably not the RIGHT way because of your current health issues.

And as you keep doing these movements, they become ingrained.  They become automated.

YOU DON’T WANT THAT.

It’s going to lead to further aches, pains, and injuries.

So…that’s the long way around me explaining why I want you to Move Well and TAKE YOUR TIME when you’re learning the corrective strategies and exercises I’m showing you.

It’s also why I’m asking you to reach out if you’ve got questions.

I want to help and I know how to help you Move Well.
